The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) have expanded their professional learning and development website to support all major practice areas in management accounting and public accounting with learning, resources and competency development tools.

The AICPA-CIMA Competency and Learning website, a joint project of the AICPA and CIMA, allows users to take a personalized approach to lifelong learning and career development. The site includes self-assessment tools that allow professionals to analyze which skills they need to stay ahead in today’s rapidly changing business environment. Users are directed to relevant material from more than 2,500 learning resources – including articles, videos, publications, webcasts and online courses – to help them reach their goals.

The site, launched in early 2015, was organized to reflect the competency framework for Chartered Global Management Accountant® (CGMA®) designation holders, and later was broadened to include topics such as employee benefit plan auditing, governmental auditing, not-for-profit accounting, financial accounting and reporting, and assurance. In recent months, additional topics – developed by some of the profession’s top subject matter experts – have been added:

  • Tax
  • Personal Financial Planning
  • Forensic & Valuation Services
  • Firm Practice Management
  • Fair Value Measurement
  • IT Management & Assurance

“This is now truly a one-stop destination for public accountants, management accountants and finance professionals looking to take control of their careers and pursue new skills and expertise,” said Clar Rosso, the AICPA’s vice president of member learning and competency. “It’s a source of guidance that’s available anytime, anywhere, whether you’re working on a laptop or a mobile device, and fits the needs of today’s more self-directed and on-the-go professionals.”
